Company Profile

Corrvus, LLC was founded in 2009 by four PhD scientists with expertise ranging from polymer & colloid synthesis, optical engineering, CAD design & CNC machining, and software engineering. We apply these skills to design, manufacture, and sell advanced optical instrumentation. Our current focus is offering consulting services for design and prototype manufacturing of correlation-based instruments, including dynamic light scattering and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.

We can work with customers to develop stand alone instruments, or characterization subsystems for integration into larger manufacturing or testing platforms. By developing each of the underlying components from the ground up, we are uniquely positioned to conform our technology to diverse applications.

Recent Accomplishments

Scientists within Corrvus LLC have many years of experience in designing and prototyping various correlation-based optical instruments. Specifically, our scientists have in depth experience and knowledge of dynamic light scattering (DLS), fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), and diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS). Examples of our design and prototyping portfolio include:

  • Simple and inexpensive DLS for teaching laboratories
  • High-throughput multi-sample DLS, <25 μL sample volume, and including custom designed well plates with associated mixing & liquid handling
  • Submersible probe DLS for in situ reaction monitoring
  • Miniaturized DLS integrated into microfluidic devices
  • Portable battery operated DLS
  • Combined DLS and FCS
  • Diffusing wave spectrometer optimized for particle size analysis

By making so many prototypes, we have identified several design strategies that allow us to quickly move from concept to design to prototype. Our systems are also easily adapted to absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy characterizaton.

Current Projects in Development

Corrvus is currently developing and testing a benchtop DLS instrument for laboratory and quality control measurements. We have been designing this as a instrument platform for integrating various customized accessories. We anticipate completion of the benchtop DLS system by mid 2010.
